I'm really glad we're having this conversation. The threads about data

tml> schema and APIs and the role

tml> of ontology and how to relate to existing

tml> ontologies are at the heart of misunderstandings between the "just get
it done" crowd and the "try to do it well" crowd, if you'll forgive my
simplifying labels. (I consider myself one of each :), so I get to tease.)
In response, I had gone on a bit in a long-winded email message, but it
turned in to a standalone essay that I posed on the blog:

By the way, all of you are invited to post to the tagcommons.org blog. The
difference in my mind is that the blog is for somewhat complete and
context-independent ideas, whereas our discussion forum is for contextual
dialog toward an agreement for sharing tag data. Also, as Nitin suggests,
some remarks are better placed as comments in the context of the more
public-facing blog, and others are part of our dialog here.
